WOMEN soldiers are being warned to drink responsibly by the Ministry of Defence... or they will end up with big bottoms.Chiefs have resorted to the shock tactic to stop thousands of women in the forces from binge-drinking.

The MoD produced the hard-hitting advert after discovering that increasing numbers of beer-swilling servicewomen are running a health risk.Adverts in Soldier magazine feature the slogan “Does My Bum Look Big in This?” against a pint glass made to look like a woman with a large bottom. It asks: “Are You Drinking to Excess?”A forces insider said: “We are determined to show there is no place for excess drinking in the British Army and shock tactics are a great way to get the message across to both men and women.”

The campaign comes after a recent MoD-funded survey which showed as many as 23,000 members of the armed forces – around one in seven – were drinking “hazardous and harmful” levels of alcohol. The study also showed those who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan are 22% more likely to develop serious drink problems than other troops.There are around 18,000 women in the forces, making up 9% of the total of the UK’s service personnel.

Binge-drinking is defined as having six or more units of alcohol on one occasion on at least a weekly basis.

The MoD said it took the issue of problem drinking very seriously and stressed the consumption of alcohol was strictly regulated when personnel are serving on operations.

Stalker left pornographic magazines

JOLIET — A man who allegedly tried to show his affection for a woman by regularly leaving pornographic magazines by her car has been arrested on stalking charges.Bradley E. Drew, 48, of

in Rockdale, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Monday in a Metra station parking lot after police officers watched him deposit an explicit magazine, Deputy Chief Mike Trafton said.“Since Dec. 10, Drew has dropped different pornographic magazines by this woman’s car six times. She felt it was suspicious and contacted police,” he said. Police put the woman’s car under surveillance and reportedly spotted Drew.“He taken into custody for an interview, during which he said he’d been ‘watching her for a long time’ because he ‘thought she was pretty,’” Trafton said.

According to reports, the victim and Drew have never met.Police said Drew did not explain his reasons to use pornography to show his interest.Drew was booked into the county jail on charges of stalking, disorderly conduct and littering. Reports indicate the shop foreman has no prior criminal record.

New Rules-Employers can demand bras be worn

German companies have a right to demand a certain standard of dress and grooming from employees, including forcing women to wear bras and cut their nails, a court ruled Thursday.The State Labour Court in North Rhine-Westphalia issued the ruling on a case between bosses and employees at a German airport security firm, but the findings will apply to all German businesses, the Daily Mail reports.The airport employees said their company's rule book on physical appearance is too strict. The court disagreed.“Being told to wear a bra and to keep fingernails to shorter than half-a-centimetre does not impinge on personal rights,” the court ruled.Bosses can ask women to wear bras to work — specifically, white or flesh-coloured ones that don't show through uniforms. White undershirts are acceptable alternatives.Companies can also ask women to keep their fingernails trim and their hair clean.

Smart idea- Man robs 7-Eleven with snow brush

CALGARY — A man is wanted for his brush with the law after an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven in the city's southeast.A masked man wielding a snow brush held up the store Tuesday, police said.

The clerk complied with the demands and placed the cash draw on the counter.After grabbing an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled.Police Insp. Paul Stacey said the choice of weapon suggests the robbery might have been a spur-of-the-moment decision."It doesn't look like it was planned out," he said.

Although Stacey has seen everything from bits of wood to tire irons -- or anything criminals can get their hands on -- used as weapons, the snow brush "probably tops" the list of unusual items used to intimidate or threaten someone during a crime.

Card as a Savior-Bouncer's cards stop knife blows

BERLIN - A wallet stuffed with 20 plastic cards and a stroke of luck saved a pub doorman in western Germany from serious injury during a knife attack. A customer ejected from the pub in the city of Witten on Sunday stabbed its 31-year-old doorman four times in the chest with a knife, police said. But a fat wallet in the bouncer’s breast pocket stopped the blade from piercing his body.” The wallet and cards acted as a protective vest and prevented a more serious incident,” chief inspector Volker Schuette told Reuters without naming the bouncer or attacker.

“Everyone at the police station checked their wallets and no one had 20 plastic cards,” he said, adding that the doorman’s wallet had a plethora of cards for video rental stores along with credit and bank cards.

Schuette said that a wallet with fewer cards in it would not have been enough protection against the attack and that lady luck had also been smiling on the doorman that day.

“He said that he usually doesn’t carry his wallet with him when he works.”

British scientists have found that public banking machines are actually dirtier than public washrooms, containing bacteria that can cause diarrhea and other unfortunate illnesses. 'We were surprised by our results because the ATM machines were shown to be heavily contaminated with bacteria; to the same level as nearby public lavatories," Richard Hastings, a microbiologist for BioCote, which sponsored the study, told the Telegraph newspaper. "In addition, the bacteria we detected on ATMs were similar to those from the toilet, which are well-known as causes of common human illnesses." The researchers took swabs of public banking machines and then took separate swabs of nearby public washrooms. The samples were allowed to grow overnight and then compared under a microscope. The study came on the heels of a public opinion survey that asked people to list the dirtiest public places. The study compares those results with its findings from the swabs.

Find a dog; get a baby named after you

OTTAWA — the person who finds a missing Bernese mountain dog and returns it to a Richmond family will get an unusual reward. Dan and Sara Cannon love their dog so much, they've offered to name their first-born child -- due in three weeks -- after whoever finds it. On Jan. 4, Sara let their beloved Bernese mountain dog, Molly Jane, out to relieve herself at their home located southwest of Ottawa, but the dog never came back. The couple suspect the dog was stolen, after reports that a male dog of the same breed was the target of a failed abduction in Munster, about 10 km west of Richmond, earlier the same day. The suspect in that attempted dog abduction was driving a white van with a bad muffler, and Sara claims she saw a similar van in Richmond as well. They have filed a police report, offered a reward and mailed out 3,000 flyers. There's even a Facebook page. But, Tuesday they decided to ramp up the enticement to the extreme — help bring about the safe return of Molly, and they'll name their first born after you. The couple doesn't think what they're offering is extreme at all.
