How-Autocorrect error sends schools into lockdown
Two Georgia schools went into lockdown Wednesday after an innocent text message turned sinister because of autocorrect. The text reading "gunman be at west hall today" prompted police to notify West Hall middle and high schools of the threat just before , reported the Gainesville Times. But after police tracked the phone number, they realized that autocorrect had changed "gunna" to "gunman." Adding to the confusion, the text was sent to the wrong number, so the intended recipient — likely a student — didn't see it. Instead, a "community member" received it and reported it to police, according to the paper.
