LOL-Motorcyclist busted for texting while riding
EDMONTON - Police said not only was an Edmonton motorcyclist arrested for texting while riding on Sunday, but he ran into another vehicle trying to get away. Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, city cops saw a man texting while driving a motorcycle riding down a city street. “Our officers have seen some pretty ridiculous things from motorists, including people trying to read while driving, a person using their knees to steer a vehicle while eating a bowl of cereal and now this,” said city police traffic Staff Sgt. Barry Maron. When officers signaled for the rider to pull over, he opened the throttle and sped off, striking an oncoming vehicle. The man then tried to run away but was quickly apprehended.
Wow-Teen who sold kidney for iPad seeks compensation
A Chinese teenager wants compensation from the nine people who allegedly helped him sell his kidney so he could buy an iPad and an iPhone. The 17-year-old, known only as Wang, is said to have suffered renal failure after his right kidney was removed by a surgeon in May 2011. The report did not say who the recipient of the organ was. According to China's government-run Xinhua News Agency, one of the defendants received about 220,000 yuan (about $34,000 CAD) to arrange the removal and transplant. He paid Wang 22,000 yuan and split the rest with the other defendants, which include medical staff from the hospital where the operation took place.
Good-Free vibrator giveaway is back
A condom company's free vibrator giveaway is back on after it had to prematurely withdraw the promotion Wednesday afternoon in New York City. Hundreds of women - and some men - came out to get the free Trojan sex toys, 10,000 of which were being distributed from "pleasure carts" at hot spots around the city. But a city official showed up
at one of the giveaway locations and pulled the plug because the size of the crowd had swelled to the point it was impeding pedestrian and street traffic, according to the New
York Post. The mayor's office said in a statement to the paper that the event was stopped because it didn't have a permit. Thousands were left empty-handed when Trojan announced on its Facebook page around 5 p.m. the giveaways had been "postponed." But the company will get to finish what it started.
What-Teen collapses after four-day Xbox marathon
A four-day Xbox video game marathon has landed a 15-year-old Ohio boy in hospital after he collapsed from severe dehydration. The Columbus teen was playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and only came out of his bedroom to use the bathroom, take a quick shower and get some snacks, his mother told NBC4. The boy was taken to hospital
in an ambulance Tuesday morning when his mother saw him fall over and noticed his lips turned blue. His mother said she took away his Xbox. Last month, an 18-year-old man reportedly collapsed and died after playing the video game Diablo III for 40 hours straight at an Internet cafe in Taiwan.
