A Kentucky man is suing after he went into hospital for a circumcision and left without a penis.

Phillip Seaton, 64, was supposed to have surgery in 2007 to treat inflammation, but Dr. John Patterson removed Seaton's penis because he said he found cancer during the procedure, reports ABC News. Seaton is seeking damages for "loss of service, love and affection" to his wife. The trial got underway Monday in Shelbyville; Ky.Medical experts told ABC that the doctor needed consent from the patient, even if the cancer he discovered was life-threatening.Seaton also sued the hospital where the procedure was performed. Louisville's Jewish Hospital reportedly settled out of court.

While he was presumably talking about matters of the heart, a genuinely unprecedented phenomenon was occurring in the couple's own wedding party: One of the bridesmaids appeared only virtually, via iPad.

"Renee called dibs to be my bridesmaid many many moons ago and unfortunately she couldn't physically make it out here but thank you, technology," says Jamie, on the YouTube video, holding up a white iPad that framed her friend's face.

"Here is Renee. She got to see the whole ceremony, she got to meet everyone and be here for the reception."

The boy, believed to be about 10, was spotted Sunday in the community of Townsville wearing a sign that said, "Do not trust me. I will steal from you as I am a THIEF."Diane Mayers, who spotted the boy enduring what appeared to be a kind of public humiliation as punishment, called local child services to complain, the Townsville Bulletin reported."The boy just kept his head down and was staring at the ground," she said. "The parents had gone to all the trouble of printing two copies of the sign -- one for the back and one for the front -- and laminating them. A lot of work had gone into them."

FACEBOOK'S famous "Like" button has been declared illegal under Germany's strict privacy laws by data protection officials. The north Germany state of Schleswig-Holstein demanded that dozens of websites that carry the button linking to the social networking site remove the offending item by the end of September or face a fine of up to €50,000 ($US71,935), The Local reported today.Thilo Weichert, of the state's data protection center, said the application allowed Facebook to illegally piece together a profile of web users' habits."Facebook can trace every click on a website, how long I'm on it, what I'm interested in," he said.Palo Alto, California-based Facebook rejected Mr Weichart's claim and said that the plug-ins were in full compliance with European laws.
