A 17-year-old boy was attacked with a machete (Cleaver-like cutting tool) in Scarborough after refusing to let another teen use his cellphone. The victim tried to run away but was chased by his attacker who continued to slash him from behind, police said. The victim then ran to a transit bus for help. Even when a bus stopped to help, the attacker kept slashing away at the teen. The bus driver activated his emergency button and the machete-wielding suspect at first walked away and then returned to continue the attack. Police found a suspect hiding under a car nearby. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition. Gajan Ponniah, 19, of Markham, Ont., is charged with attempted murder and robbery.

Police have arrested 17 people after a brutal attack on Christian campers during which at least five girls were raped. Some 90 members of a Christian youth group were on a church-sponsored camping trip on the outskirts of Mexico City on Friday when a gang of assailants stormed the area and spent hours beating, raping and robbing the campers, authorities say. The assailants rounded up the campers and robbed them at gunpoint. Authorities say five girls were raped and another three were sexually assaulted. Mexico State Governor Eruviel Avila promised to seek the most extreme punishment available — life in prison — for the 15 men and two women arrested. He also promised the government would provide medical, psychological and legal assistance to the victims, Mexican newspaper Milenio reports. Two of the accused are police officers, and one is a former solider. The attorney general of the State of Mexico, Alfredo Castillo, said victims identified 11 of those arrested and many of them had campers’ stolen goods in their homes. Avila said six have already confessed. Authorities claim the attack isn’t related to organized crime.

Baywatch" actor David Hasselhoff was widely lusted after in the 80s, but thieves have taken it to the next level by stealing 550 life-size cutout ads of the actor. Only 20 out of the original 570 Hoffs remain at Cumberland Farms convenience stores located in New England and Florida, The Associated Press reported. The ads, part of the store’s advertising campaign, display the buff "Baywatch" star wearing a tank top while hawking iced coffee. The 60-year-old actor said he was rather amused by the pilfering.

But she added, "This particular campaign is probably a higher rate of theft than anything we've ever seen.Hasselhoff is best known for his lead roles on the popular series, “Knight Rider” and “Baywatch.” He was a judge on "America's Got Talent" for four years before becoming a judge on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2011.

An Oklahoma man accidentally shot himself in the groin, and getting help made matters worse.Tavares Donnell Colbert, a convicted drug dealer, told officers he intended to sell a gun at a convenience store after buying it in Kansas, NewsOK.com reported. While testing the gun to ensure it functioned properly, the 36-year-old shot his groin, and immediately drove to the hospital, police said he told them.He was arrested for illegal firearm possession after treatment because he wasn’t allowed to carry a gun as a convicted felon, the paper .

Welcome to Bikinis, Texas. Population: Several bikini-clad waitresses and a man with a dream to create America's only sports "breastaurant." Doug Guller, the owner of a Texas restaurant chain called Bikinis, has bought a ghost town in his home state. Guller said there will be regular events in the town, the Statesman newspaper reports. "Bikinis, Texas, will be a world-class destination, and I am thrilled to expand the Bikinis brand to include town ownership," Guller said Tuesday, the newspaper reported. "There can't be a better way to put Bikinis on the map, literally." Guller bought the town of Bankersmith, which was up for sale on Craigslist. The Texas State Historical Association said the town, which is located 150 km west of Austin, was established in 1913 and at its peak, had a store, dance hall, lumberyard and about 50 residents. There are currently 11 Bikinis restaurants in Texas, including the original in Austin, and plans to open two out-of-state locations later this year. The restaurants are known for the waitresses who don bikinis while serving patrons.
