Sexy-Solar-powered bikini will keep you groovin' all summer long

Tired of your MP3 player running out of juice at the beach? Cross that frustration off your list this summer thanks to the Solar Bikini, the high-tech bathing suit that can charge your MP3 player or other small devices while you relax in the sun.

Unfortunately, you can’t exactly pick up this baby in time for a quick getaway this weekend. Each suit needs to be custom ordered, handmade and can take more than 80 hours to create. The bikini doesn’t weigh anymore than a regular bathing suit even with 40 solar cells attached, although the price tag is heavy: It sells for $500 and $1,500 at SolarCoterie.com. Designer Andrew Schneider first came up with the idea as a joke -- but it turned into a very real project.

Pain-Record body Piercing attempt gives NIN fan 3,200 reasons to wince

Staysha Randall, dressed only in a frilly white g-string, gritted her teeth during a gruelling session in which 3,200 sterile needles were slid under and through her skin by body piercer Bill 'Danger' Robinson. No limb was left unscathed as Staysha's arms, legs and back were inserted with metal handed to the precision piercer by his faithful assistant 'Jenn O. Cide'.The 22-year-old stage performer was initially aiming for 3,600, but stopped after breaking the official record which stands at 3,100. Texan tattooist Tyson Turk sat through six hours and 15 minutes of pain when he attempted the feat back in May 2010.

Aptly heavy metal band Nine Inch Nails are listed on Staysha's Facebook page as her favourite band, but it's unsure whether the feat was a homage to front man Trent Reznor.

Why-Missouri shop advised against selling the sold-out insect-filled ice cream

COLUMBIA, Mo. — A public health official in central Missouri has asked an ice cream shop to cool it with the cicada ice cream, even though customers apparently can't get enough of it. Sparky's Homemade Ice Cream in Columbia, Mo., sold out of its only batch of the insect-filled dessert within hours of its June 1 debut.The Columbia Missourian says employees collected the cicadas in their backyards and removed most of the dead bugs' wings. They then boiled the bugs and covered them in brown sugar and milk chocolate. The base ice cream is brown sugar and butter flavor.

Gerry Worley, an environmental health chief with the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health, says the agency's food code "doesn't directly address cicadas" and that he has advised against their use as an ingredient.

What-How pole-dancing women led Innisfail party to court

A FIGHT over two women who were pole dancing at a party north of Innisfail left a teenager "bleeding profusely" with a severed artery, a trial has heard.

Taras Vang, 22, Xa Vang, 26, and Yee Vue, 22, have pleaded not guilty to malicious acts with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and assault after a party at Garradunga spiralled out of control on May 10, 2008, The Cairns Post said. On day one of the trio’s trial in Cairns District Court yesterday, crown prosecutor Gelma Meoli said the incident began in the early hours of the morning when Taras Vang arrived at the party with two women and a friend.
