David Pawlak told the Tribune. "She said she believed she 'hallucinated' the two subjects and they were not real."
Nice-Florida town seeks nudist vacationers from Europe
A west Florida community is spending $3,800 in tax dollars to entice naked Germans to spend their summer vacations there.
The advertising grant was awarded Tuesday by the Pasco County commission to Pandabare, a local nudist organization representing 16 resorts, campgrounds and clubs located in the largely rural county north of Tampa. The ads, to be placed in European publications, will promote the county’s longstanding reputation as the nudist capital of America.
“The idea is to create a Euro-bird season in July and August which are our worst two months of the year,” said Eric Keaton, public communications manager for the Pasco County tourist development agency. Keaton said nudism contributes to the county’s economy, but he had no figures to quantify its impact.
Two-headed baby boy born in Brazil
A Brazilian mother has given birth to a baby boy with two heads - an apparent case of a very rare conjoined anomaly called dicephalic parapagus.
The twin boys, Jesus and Emanuel, were born early Monday and share one body and one heart, reports local newspaper O Povo.
One baby is healthy, while the other has breathing difficulties, a hospital statement said of the babies born in Marajo , Para , in northern Brazil .
The extremely rare twins were transferred to hospital in Belem on Tuesday for medical evaluations, a day after their delivery by caesarian section.
The 23-year-old mother had some prenatal care, but did not have any ultrasounds before the birth.
Liposuction death doc's licence suspended
Dr. Behnaz Yazdanfar (left) has been stripped of her licence to practise medicine for two years and indefinitely banned from performing surgery on her own following the 2007 death of Krista Stryland (right).
TORONTO — Dr. Behnaz Yazdanfar, whose patient died after an excessively high volume of liposuction, has been stripped of her licence to practise medicine for two years and banned indefinitely from performing surgery on her own. In a decision released Wednesday morning, the College of Physicians and Surgeons also ordered Yazdanfar to pay $219,000 in costs and report for a reprimand. Krista Stryland, a 32-year-old realtor and mother of one, died in 2007 following extensive cosmetic surgery at Yazdanfar's Toronto clinic. The college found she removed too much fluid from Stryland and waited too long to call 911.
Yazdanfar was a family physician and not a qualified plastic surgeon.
In May, Yazdanfar was found guilty of incompetence and professional misconduct in her handling of Stryland's case as well as that of two other liposuction patients and two who underwent breast augmentations.
"The impact of such behaviour on the trusting relationship of the public with the profession collectively, the regulatory body and individual hardworking physicians cannot be underestimated," the discipline committee noted in its ruling.
How-'mind over matter' to endure freezing temperatures
The Dutchman is an eight-times world record holder for his ability to withstand sub-zero temperatures.
The 52-year-old completed a half-marathon in Finland two years ago in -20C (-4F) temperatures while wearing nothing but shorts.
The daredevil also spent 73 minutes and 48 seconds immersed in an ice bath in 2008.His friend, photographer Henny Boogert, has compiled a record of Mr Hof’s feats after meeting him in Amsterdam more than 25 years ago doing naked yoga in the snow. Henny said Wim was a regular in the parks of Amsterdam in the middle of the winter often sitting in freezing lakes reading a book.
The pair have travelled to polar ice caps, vast glaciers and a giant freezer where they played chess.
