Why-Virgin Mary ad creates controversy
An ad in front of a New Zealand church is causing controversy because it shows a shocked Virgin Mary holding a positive pregnancy test. Vicar Glynn Cardy took to the St. Matthew-in-the-City's Facebook page to say he received more than 200 e-mails about the ad.
"Huge amounts of projection," Cardy wrote giving examples of some of the e-mails, such as, "You make (Mary) look like a whore," "No one who is a virgin needs a pregnancy test," and his personal favourite, "You are destroying the fabric of society that gives rise to bigots and fanatics and then think it is OK to no longer follow rules."
In a post on the Auckland church's website, titled Mary is in the pink, Cardy and associate priest Clay Nelson write that to the Virgin Mary, her immaculate conception would have been "shocking." "Mary was unmarried, young, and poor. This pregnancy would shape her future. She was certainly not the first woman in this situation or the last," they wrote. When many parts of Christmas are "make-believe," it's important to remember the "real" story, they said.

Strange-Neighbourhood bans mom and daughter
A British mother and daughter have been banned from their neighbourhood because of their drunken antics.
Kim Ohoro, 39, and her 17-year-old daughter, Katie Scott, harassed and distressed neighbours in Burnley , located 50 km north of Manchester . They have been banned from their home in the area for three months and risk a fine of $8,000 if they go back. Police said over the past three months, they and town council have received more than 20 complaints about the mother and daughter's drunken behaviour, which included swearing, shouting, fighting, parties and loud music.
One woman who has lived in the area for 60 years told police she would leave her home every day just to get away.
"She said she dreaded walking out on the street and often just sat and cried," police said. "Another lady said she felt constantly intimidated and was scared to walk past the house. A third resident said he felt suicidal and feared for his safety." Police moved in on Tuesday to have the two women kicked out of the house because of their behaviour -- a move that is allowed under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act.

When he didn't return, she called him. Authorities say Pratt laughed, then told the woman he had stolen her car.
Why-Many teen girls have had group sex: Study
One in 13 teenage girls in the U.S. have had group sex, a new study has found.Researchers from Boston University School of Public Health also found those girls were more likely to have been exposed to porn and childhood sexual abuse than girls who had not participated in group sex.The researchers surveyed 328 girls in the Boston area. The girls were asked about sexual partners and experiences. Of those who said they'd had group sex, more than half reported being pressured to do so, while 45% reported a male participant didn't wear a condom. As well, 54% were younger than 16 at the time of the group sex.
"Group sex among youth is an important public health topic that has received very little attention to date," researcher Emily Rothman said in a release about the study. "It's time for parents, pediatricians, federal agencies, and community-based organizations to sit up, pay attention, and take notice: Group sex is happening, and we need to be prepared to address it."The study was published in the Journal of Urban Health: Bulletin of the New York Academy of Medicine.
Woman Drugged, Groped During Polygraph
Lie detector expert busted for creepy incident
DECEMBER 15--A polygraph examiner allegedly drugged a female client during an examination and then fondled her and sought sexual favors as she became disoriented and faint, according to Florida cops.William McCallister, 58, was arrested yesterday and charged with extortion, attempted sexual battery, and delivery of a controlled substance in connection with the incident last Wednesday at his Winter Haven office. McCallister, pictured in the mug shot at right, is a convicted felon who spent 15 years in prison for robbery, kidnapping, and administering barbiturates. That conviction stemmed from a probe in which he was “suspected of drugging women in the Orlando area,” cops noted.
According to an arrest affidavit, the woman and her husband went to McCallister’s office so that he could administer polygraph examinations for both of them. While cops do not further detail why the couple sought the lie detector tests, which cost a total of $1284, it appears that the polygraph examination dealt with marital fidelity.
Nice-Men bare all to save the earth
In what has become an annual tradition at the University of the Philippines , fraternity members dashed through the halls wearing only masks to hide their faces and carrying signs calling for environmental protection. The group adopts a cause every year, and this year they teamed up with environmental groups to clean 20 polluted rivers and streams in Manila . The annual run is said to have begun in the 1970s, when the fraternity members ran naked around the campus to protest against former President Ferdinand Marcos’s censoring of a film criticizing his administration.
