Why-Woman arrested for trying to start meth lab in Walmart

A 45-year-old Oklahoma woman was arrested for allegedly trying to start a meth lab -- in a Walmart store. Police were called to a Walmart in Tulsa, Okla., after store employees saw a woman start to take items used to make meth off the shelves, local news station KJRH reported. She then tried to make the drug while she was still in the store. Staff called police, who arrived and took the items outside the store. Some of the chemicals spilled, and one officer suffered a minor burn to his hand. Police say this isn't the first time this woman has been arrested on meth-making attempts. (QMI).

Scary-'Sleeping' sex assaulter strikes again

TORONTO — A man who sexually assaulted a woman on the subway while pretending to be asleep has struck again, police said Monday.

The man was travelling westbound on the Bloor-Danforth subway line at 9 p.m. on Oct. 4 when he pretended to be asleep and sexually assaulted a woman seated beside him, police said. On Friday at 9 a.m., police said the same man boarded a subway train travelling eastbound on the Bloor-Danforth line and sat next to a woman. Police said the man again pretended to be asleep and sexually assaulted her. He is described as white, 35, 5-foot-11 with a medium build and short black hair.

Unlucky-Man dies after fall from parade float

A 41-year-old Newfoundland man died Sunday afternoon after he fell off a flatbed trailer that was a float in a Christmas parade, RCMP said.The man, whose name hasn't been released, was taking part in the Relic Riders Motorcycle Club's parade in Carbonear, N.L.At about 3:30 p.m., he fell off the float, Sgt. Marc Coulombe said. Police aren't sure how he fell. A witness got the truck to stop right away, but the man went under the wheels.The trailer flatbed was decorated with pine branches and candy canes. The man was on the opposite side of the trailer from the other participants and was heading home on the float after the parade.He was pronounced dead at the scene, Coulombe said.Foul play is not suspected, but the investigation continues as police wait for toxicology and autopsy results.  (QMI).

ROCK HILL, S.C.  — Starting this week, students at one South Carolina high school won't get disciplined right away for wearing saggy pants. Instead, school officials will lend them a belt. Administrators at Northwestern High School in Rock Hilll, S.C., hope the change will cause students to think about how they dress and also reduce the number of students referred for discipline. Previously, students whose pants sagged below their waist could be written up and sent to the principal's office.Junior Joe Johnson says he doubts that loaning a belt for the day will deter teens, because many students already wear a belt on their sagging pants. Wow-Diamond tossed in Salvation Army kettle

KANSAS CITY, MO. - Tossing a stone into a Salvation Army kettle at Christmas wouldn't be a nice thing to do. Unless it's a diamond, of course. Someone recently put a 3/4-carat diamond in a kettle outside a Walmart in Shawnee, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. It was appraised Thursday at $2,000.  Salvation Army employee found the loose diamond wrapped in paper, said Major Michele Heaver, a spokeswoman for the group. "First he thought it was trash and then he discovered it was quite the opposite," Heaver said Friday. "He told us about it and we put it in a safe."

The diamond was cut about 100 years ago, Heaver said, citing the appraiser. It will be set in a ring and auctioned off, with proceeds used to help families and others in need, she said. (QMI).

DECEMBER 9--Anticipating a “confrontation” when he went to pick up his son Wednesday afternoon at his mother-in-law’s residence, a Florida man activated his iPhone’s video camera to record the handover of his three-year-old child.As it turned out, Salvatore Miglino’s premonition proved to be accurate, as he was shot twice by Cheryl Hepner, the 66-year-old mother of Miglino’s wife (whom he is in the midst of divorcing). Miglino, 39, was shot in the shoulder and rib cage by a .22 Beretta brandished by Hepner, according to a probable cause affidavit.Miglino’s iPhone--which appears to have initially been placed on the car’s front seat--recorded the sound of the gunshots and the aftermath of the shooting outside Hepner’s Tamarac home. “I can’t believe you did that!” Miglino yelled after being shot “What, are you crazy?” After Miglino apparently pinned her to the ground, Hepner said, “Get the fuck off me you son of a bitch.”
