Authorities in North Korea are reportedly punishing citizens - six months of hard labour - who didn't mourn hard enough over the death of "eternal leader" Kim Jong-il.

The punishment is less severe for North Koreans who merely criticize the dynastic system that parachuted Kim's son Kim Jong Un into power. According to the report, they will be sent to re-education camps or be banished with their families to remote rural areas.

A British MP is comparing a BBC-made sex-ed video package for kids to pornography. "I was embarrassed when I watched. It was like a blue movie," Tory MP Andrea Leadsom told the U.K. Sun after watching the videos from the Sex and Relationship Education series produced by BBC

Active, Leadsom said she watched the materials after getting calls from upset parents whose kids were shown the videos in school. The series, intended for children between the ages of nine and 11, features a number of categories, including "Making friends," "Men's and women's bodies, "Sexual intercourse" and "What are wet dreams?" One segment, aimed at teaching kids how their bodies change as they get older, depicts a naked family, with real actors.

Another video, about sexual intercourse -- sometimes called "making love" -- shows a cartoon couple talking, kissing and having sex. The dialogue explains that sometimes couples have sex to express their love.

 

Wow-Police nab drunk driver going 10 km/h

SUDBURY, Ont. -- It was driving at 10km/h that gave drunk driver Laurier Carrey's away.

When cops pulled Carrey over Sept. 28 and got him to step out his vehicle, he was wobbly and his speech slurred.

Carrey later produced a breath-test reading of 320 -- four times the legal limit. He was also driving without insurance.

Carrey, 48, pleaded guilty Wednesday in the Ontario Court of Justice to blowing over and driving without insurance.

Justice Martin Lambert, noting Carrey had made significant progress in addressing his alcohol and drug use issues, fined him $4,500. He also suspended his licence for 18 months and put him on 18 months probation, with the key conditions being that he not drink and take any counselling or assessment his probation officer recommends.

"I am very remorseful," Carrey told the court. "I'm glad that nothing serious happened."

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Marine Corps said on Wednesday it would investigate a video showing what appear to be American forces in Afghanistan urinating on the bodies of dead Taliban fighters. The video could aggravate anti-American sentiment in Afghanistan after a decade of a war that has seen other cases of abuse. The Marine video release comes at a sensitive moment, with Washington trying to promote Afghan reconciliation as U.S. troops gradually withdraw from the country.

The video, which was posted on YouTube and other websites, shows four men in camouflage Marine combat uniforms urinating on three corpses.

How-Couple finds $4,500 wedding ring in dog's stomach

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A couple has found a suspect in the disappearance of their $4,500 wedding ring — their 10-month old basset hound. KOB-TV reported Wednesday that a veterinarian recently removed the ring from the dog named Coraline after X-rays showed it was lodged deep in her stomach and wasn't coming out on its own. Albuquerque resident Rachelle Atkinson says she and her husband Scott had searched everywhere for the ring before beginning to suspect the dog ate it. "She was the only one in our room," Atkinson tells KOB-TV, "so we immediately looked at her and she looked guilty," Atkinson said."

The vet said basset hounds have a tendency to eat rocks. Atkinson says she now hides the ring while Coraline is off munching away at anything she can find.
