A soccer ball that bobbed onto the shore of a remote Alaska island is likely the first salvageable debris from last year's Japanese tsunami that could be returned to its owner, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The ball, found on Alaska's Middleton Island, bears writing that identifies its place of origin, said Doug Helton, operations coordinator for NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration, which is tracking debris from the tsunami. According to a translation provided by Tokyo-based journalists, the ball is from the Osabe School in the Iwate Prefecture, an area that was hit by the devastating tidal wave unleashed March 11 by the magnitude 9 earthquake off Japan's north-eastern coast, Helton said Sunday.

Beachcombers and cleanup workers in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest have found debris, including sports equipment, that was likely set adrift by the tsunami, Helton said. But this soccer ball stood out because it had identifying information.

Adam Keith Burns, 32, of St. Petersburg faces charges of kidnapping and sexual battery after the incident, which police say was caught on the 911 recording.

"They should be allowed to pee for free, the public toilets should provide vending machines with sanitary towels, like men have for condoms, and they should have a changing room in the toilets," campaign leader Rahul Gaekward told the BBC.

A radio station breached the broadcasting code when it accidentally played "pornographic content" during a show, according to communications watchdog Ofcom.

Listeners tuning in to the Funky Sensation show with Mike Vitti on Jazz FM heard swearing and "clearly audible sounds of sexual activity" for around five minutes.

Ofcom's report said a member of station staff "opened a personal email on the studio computer and accessed a weblink containing pornographic content; but by mistake left the sound fader linked to this computer open on the broadcast console. This resulted in the broadcast of the audio of the pornographic content."Three listeners complained to Ofcom after the content was broadcast from 7.15pm for around five minutes during the pre-recorded show, on February 18, before a station engineer pulled the plug on the feed.The station issued an apology on its website and on social networks shortly afterwards and during the same show a week later.It told the watchdog that "the individual who inadvertently caused the material to be broadcast has now left Jazz FM".

Ofcom concluded the station had breached the rules on generally accepted standards.
