What a wish she has….?

Clare Ormiston, who lives at Glenfield Residential Home in Wythall, Birmingham, came up with a couple of suggestions when her relatives asked her back in June what she fancied to mark the milestone birthday.

'The first one was actually "a seat on the moon",' the former secretary's daughter Marguerite told the Daily Mirror. 'Seeing as that was pretty impossible I said, "What about something else?" and she said "a stripper".

'I couldn’t believe it. She’s got a wicked sense of humour - I nearly fell off my chair.'And the new centenarian's reaction when a male stripper named Scorpion rocked up to the residential home to fulfil her wish last week? 'I enjoyed that. It definitely put a smile on my face.'Scorpian himself, real name John Green, said of the pant-exposing gig: 'Claire said she’s always wanted to see a stripper – well she’s waited a long time!

'But it was a very special day and she really enjoyed it.'Birmingham-born and bred Claire, who has three children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, is a widow following the death of her husband Lawrence three years ago.(metro.co.uk)

WARSAW - A 23-year-old student who is running for parliament in Poland has ended up in hot water with her party over a vote-seeking Internet striptease. "Party political broadcasts like this should not exist," Tomasz Kalita, spokesman of the opposition Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), told the daily Gazeta Wyborcza on Thursday. "Every candidate has the right to make their own campaign material, but there are limits," he insisted. In her 40-second ad posted on video-sharing site YouTube, candidate Katarzyna Lenart sits in a chair caressing her hair as a kitsch soundtrack plays, and then proceeds to strip.

As she takes off her bra, the word "Censored" flashes across the screen followed by the slogan "Want more? Vote SLD. Only we can do more". Political science student Lenart, who is on the SLD's slate in the southeastern city of Lublin, had more than 122,000 views on YouTube by Thursday. (AFP)

Stuart Romain can often be seen walking through town with the birds on his shoulders as he makes his way to work or to the shops.And when the 39-year-old car salesman takes a shower, Coco, a cockatoo, and Taz, an Eclectas parrot, flutter in with him.‘Some of the large birds make very good companions – they are called companion birds,’ he said.They have their own room in his house and sometimes greet passers-by from a tree in front of his house in Yeovil, Somerset.His interest in parrots was handed down by his father who fell in love with the various species while serving the Army in the Far East and kept them in the family home when Mr Romain was growing up. PALMDALE, Calif. — Authorities say a Palmdale woman who claimed to be a psychic scared a 12-year-old girl into stealing $10,000 worth of family jewelry as payment to remove a curse. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Thursday that Jackeline Lopez was arrested last month on suspicion of extortion and detectives are seeking the public's help in identifying an additional suspect or victims.Authorities say Lopez held psychic sessions in her garage, which was decorated with candles, chalk outlines, black cauldrons and replicas of human skulls.Lopez allegedly told the girl she was cursed and horrible things would happen to her if the curse was not removed. Lopez said the curse could be lifted by paying a fee.Authorities say the girl was scared into stealing the jewelry to pay Lopez and isn't considered a suspect. (The Associated Press)

 

Stupid-Fight over headphones delays flight

MONTREAL -- Two pilots on an Air Canada Jazz flight were forced to break up a fight between two passengers who were brawling over a pair of headphones, police say. One of the men was kicked off the flight at Trudeau Airport and has been arraigned on several charges. The altercation delayed the flight to Winnipeg on Tuesday afternoon. Montreal police spokesman Dany Richer said officers were called to the plane, which was still at the gate. The conflict began when one of the two men sat on the armrest of a seat and broke his neighbour's headphones," said Richer. A fight broke out and a flight attendant was unable to separate the men.

  "Her arm was hurt during the altercation," said Richer. (QMI)

New Idea-Now Urinal bags offered on toilet-free trains

AMSTERDAM - Dutch national rail operator NS unveiled plans on Friday for passengers to have access to urinal bags on trains without toilets should they face an urgent need, courting controversy with commuters and politicians.“This is for emergency planning, not casual use, like having first aid kits onboard. We are preparing for the winter, say for example when there is one metre of snow and evacuation is not possible,” NS Spokesman Edwin van Scherrenburg said.But the plans have touched a raw nerve among some members of the Dutch travelling public upset with the lack of toilet facilities onboard some of the trains introduced in the last year to cover short distances.“This measure may be for emergencies but every train has to have a toilet. Normally one must not have to get off the train to use a restroom and not all train stations have toilets anyway,” said Chris Vonk, a representative of the Dutch association of public transport passengers.

Dutch media had a field day on Friday publishing stories with images of biodegradable urinal bags and several Dutch politicians expressed disbelief and amusement with the plans, which they said showed the need for toilets on all trains. (Reuters)
