Daughter of former presidential hopeful in playboy and Sex-starved fruit flies turn to booze

How-Man buried under mound of pinto beans dies

DENVER - A 56-year-old man was killed when he was buried under a 20-foot mound of pinto beans at a warehouse in eastern Colorado where he worked, police said. Raymond Segura Jr. was pronounced dead at the Brush, Colorado, facility of the Kelley Bean Company on Thursday after efforts to reach him alive were unsuccessful, Morgan County Undersheriff Dave Martin said. "We moved several tons of beans to get to him," Martin said in a telephone interview.

How-Sex-starved fruit flies turn to booze

Much like their human counterparts, male fruit flies turn to booze when they're rejected by females, according to a new study that could have implications for people with mood disorders and addictions. Experiments by researchers at the University of California San Francisco showed that, given the choice between alcohol-laced or plain food, the jilted flies opted for alcohol. Furthermore, they binged, drinking far more than their sexually satisfied counterparts. The change in behaviour corresponded with a change in the level of a molecule called neuropeptide F in their brains: Lower levels cause them to seek "alternative rewards," the researchers said, whereas the higher levels caused by mating seemed to keep them satisfied and sober. The value of the research, they said, may be in treating drug and alcohol addiction in humans. "The human version of neuropeptide F, called neuropeptide Y, may work similarly, connecting socially rewarding experiences to behaviours like binge drinking," the researchers said, pointing out that neuropeptide Y levels are known to be lower in people who suffer from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder -- conditions that are also known to predispose people toward excessive alcohol and drug abuse.

Nice-Meghan McCain gets dirty in Playboy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The daughter of former presidential hopeful and Arizona Sen. John McCain is "strictly dickly" and loves sex, according to an upcoming interview in Playboy. Meghan McCain kept her clothes on for the photoshoot that will appear in the magazine's April issue, but bared all about her sexuality for the accompanying interview. Not to go unnoticed, the famous blogger and party-goer did pose for the interview wearing a red-sequinned dress while lying seductively on a bed with satin sheets.

"I’m not a lesbian, if that’s what you’re asking," McCain says in the interview, according to the New York Post. "I’d be the first person to tell the world I was gay. I’m not private about anything. I think you should live how you should live. But I’m strictly dickly. I can’t help it. I love sex and I love men. "I’ve been hit on by women from time to time, and it might simplify my life if I were gay." McCain, a well known blogger since her father ran for president in 2008, caused a stir a year later when she posted a picture on Twitter showing off her substantial cleavage. She told Playboy if her father had become president instead of Barack Obama in 2008, she would have made the "craziest first daughter ever, who’d be making ridiculous headlines and hurting the administration every step of the way." When asked about her partying, McCain reportedly told Playboy that while she's conscious of what she wears, she isn't shy about going out.
Why-Children whose minds wander 'have sharper brains'

The discovery is particularly significant as the prefrontal cortex is an area of the brain said to be key to what makes us human
A study has found that people who appear to be constantly distracted have more “working memory”, giving them the ability to hold a lot of information in their heads and manipulate it mentally. Children at school need this type of memory on a daily basis for a variety of tasks, such as following teachers’ instructions or remembering dictated sentences. During the study, volunteers were asked to perform one of two simple tasks during which researchers checked to ask if the participants’ minds were wandering. At the end, participants measured their working memory capacity by their ability to remember a series of letters interspersed with simple maths questions. Daniel Levinson, a psychologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States, said that those with higher working memory capacity reported “more mind wandering during these simple tasks”, but their performance did not suffer.

Australian pole dancer Deborah Roach wins first place at the International Pole Championship in Hong Kong, despite missing an arm. Hong Kong hosted the world's leading names in pole dance as they competed during the International Pole Championship on Thursday.  The 29 competitors competed in two categories: Pole Fit and Pole Art. Australian winner of the disabled division, Deborah Roach, is missing an arm but always loved to dance.  "Yeah look, I actually got into an underground Goth scene in my teenage years because I didn't fit into normal society. And I loved dancing the night away on the dance floor, and that led to stage dancing in clubs," said Roach.
