What More-Breast Milk Ice-Cream Goes On Sale

Victoria Hiley, 35, one of the women who provides the breast milk for Baby Gaga breast milk ice cream

Victoria Hiley is a mother who is so passionate about breast feeding that she has had her milk turned into ice-cream at Icecreamists, a parlour in Covent Garden. .The 35-year-old has already donated a litre of her breast milk to the new ice-cream parlour. She spotted an advert on the Mumsnet internet forum offering money to potential suppliers.
Now Mrs Hiley, who works with women who have problems breast feeding, has provided the raw material for a new concoction called Baby Gaga. ‘What’s the harm in using my assets for a bit of extra cash?’ said the mother of one from Leeds. ‘There’s nothing more natural than fresh mother’s milk.’ The London parlour pays £15 per third of a litre and already 15 mothers have taken up the offer. Health checks for the lactating women are the same as those used by the NHS to screen blood donors.
Matt O’Connor, 44, who runs Icecreamists, blends the breast milk with Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest, which is then freshly churned. He said he was confident his £14 Baby Gaga would go down a treat with customers.
‘No one’s done anything interesting with ice-cream in the last hundred years,’ he said.

Happy Dogs-Luxury Hotel Opens... for dogs

VINCENNES - Heated pools, massage salons and a-la-carte menus are de rigueur at luxury hotels across the world but in one exclusive Paris establishment the difference is the guests: they have four legs, and enthusiastically wagging tails. Actuel Dogs bills itself as France’s first luxury hotel for dogs, and founders Devi and Stan Burun, a dog behaviour specialist and lifelong dog-lover, also offer training programmes for unruly hounds and dog walks in the woods. As well as a dip in the pool, or a massage, guests including Ulysse, a bumptious yellow Labrador sporting a smart red collar, enjoy “doggy jogging,” or simply relax on cushioned couches in their luxury suites. Their tiled-floor rooms smell fresh and clean and are adorned with framed prints of dogs and equipped with televisions so dogs can watch their choice of dvds. Owners pay between 26 euros and 35 euros ($36-$48) to leave their lucky hounds for a full day and while the luxury touches appeal to owners, the key difference with traditional kennels is that dogs are not locked up in cages.
