Why-Man kept dead dad in living room for months
A British man was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison because he kept the body of his dead father in his home to collect the man's benefits. Christopher Blackburn, 29, of Lancashire, England, pleaded guilty in January to theft and preventing lawful and decent burial of a dead body, police said in a release.Court heard police arrived at Blackburn's home on March 22, 2011, after neighbours called with concerns. When officers entered the home, they found the body of Guy Blackburn, 54, on a bed in the living room.
A post-mortem determined Guy Blackburn had died of natural causes several months earlier, police said.
Media reports said Christopher Blackburn told his daughter her grandpa was just sleeping.
Blackburn admitted to stealing thousands of dollars from his father's bank account, where income support payments continued to be made after his death.
Wow-B.C. reporter who hits posts featured on Leno (video)
He has been a TV news reporter for more than 20 years, but it only took one second of not paying attention for him to reach an international audience.
CTV reporter Kent Molgat’s painful pole encounter has gone viral, with nearly 180,000 views on YouTube, as of Tuesday night. Molgat was chasing a lawyer leaving a Kelowna courthouse when he collided with the pole and sent his glasses flying. Shortly after, he sent out this tweet, “Ever wanted to see a reporter refusing to take 'no comment' for an answer take a hit to the face?”
Monday night, the video was featured on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, with the veteran host introducing him, “It’s time once again for something we call, your local news ‘watch where you are going’ edition.”
How-School board apologizes for oral sex flyer
SUDBURY, ONT. - Family members are shocked after Grade 7 Catholic school students received oral sex pamphlets meant for 18 year olds.
“My granddaughter is totally not into sex or anything like that. She could not believe that she was handed this in school. And when I saw it — I'm 62 years old — I was upset," said Carmen James-Poulin, the grandmother of a student at Marymount Academy in Sudbury, Ont.
The explicit flyers were distributed Thursday during an open house at the all-girls Catholic school for students in Grades 7 to 12.
The pamphlet includes a guide on how to perform oral sex on men and women, as well as pros and cons to giving or receiving the act.
It was put together by Toronto's Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange (CATIE).
“They had a booth in the gymnasium, so they had to have permission to get in there. They wouldn't have just been able to set up without somebody's permission,” said James-Poulin, grandmother to one of the girls who came home with the sexually explicit pamphlet.
"It's not educational. It's vulgar. It belongs on a porn site."
This is at least the second time the pamphlet has ended up in the wrong hands. In 2010, QMI Agency reported that a science teacher at a Montreal school handed it out to a Grade 8 class. At the time, CATIE official Veronique Destrube said it was designed for 18-year-olds.
Catholic school board officials and an AIDS information organization are at a loss to explain how the oral sex pamphlet ended up in the students' possession.
Jim Pollock, CATIE's director of communications, said they have not held any education sessions in Sudbury for more than a year and there is no record of the school ordering the pamphlets.

Emy Brochu, 20, died east of Montreal on Jan. 18, prompting lover Mathieu Fortin to post their deadly exchange on Facebook to raise awareness about the dangers of texting behind the wheel.
Fortin says he didn't know his girlfriend was driving when he texted, "I love you Mme Brochu."

Have a good day at school bb, I kiss you all over :)"
After his next text went unanswered at 12:27 p.m., he sent Brochu another message at 1:24 p.m.
Porn star teacher back in class
Students at Florida's Nautilus Middle School can boast to their friends that one of their teachers has acted in movies — albeit with dubious titles such as Mo' Bubble Butt, Humping Iron, and Desperate Husbands.Shawn Loftis acted in and directed a series of gay porn films titled World Of Men.
The substitute math teacher, who was removed from the classroom last year because of his prior work, now says he has been allowed to return to his teaching gig.
A graduate of Florida International University, where he studied international relations with a focus on the Middle East, Loftis was teaching at Nautilus Middle School when the principal discovered his past work on his website.
The principal cited a conduct policy and prevented Loftis from returning.
On Friday, Loftis told a local station the education commission reversed the decision.
Loftis argued he wanted to guide students away from making the same mistakes he made, and that what he did was not illegal.
Aside from his acting and teaching work, Loftis is also a regular contributor to iReport, the site where CNN takes videos, pictures, and dispatches from viewers and turns them into news.
SAd-Toddler shoots, kills himself
A three-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed himself on a family road trip through Tacoma, Wash., police say. The toddler was with his mother and her boyfriend and another child when they stopped at a gas station a little after midnight Wednesday, reports Seattle's KIRO 7 TV.
While both adults were out of the car, police believe he found the boyfriend's pistol on or under a seat and fired. He died in hospital.
TV station KING 5 reported the man doesn't have a concealed-weapons permit.
The other child in the car — believed to be the man's four- or five-year-old daughter — wasn't injured.
