How-Women plan sex strike in political protest

Opposition parties in Togo are calling on women to withhold sex for one week to protest President Faure Gnassingbe. Isabelle Ameganvi, leader of the group Let's Save Togo, told BBC that for women, sex can be a "weapon of the battle." Let's Save Togo is comprised of nine civil society groups and seven opposition parties in the West African country. They oppose new electoral reforms, which they say will keep Gnassingbe in power come the October elections. The goal of the sex strike is to motivate the sexually deprived men to get involved in the political movement to end unlimited presidential terms.
Gnassingbe's family has held Togo for more than four decades. Faure Gnassingbe's father, Gnassingbe Eyadema, ruled for 38 years. When he died in 2005, the military installed his son as president. He almost immediately stepped down to run in an election, which he won, but his critics allege the vote was rigged. He was re-elected in 2010. "If men refuse to hear our cries we will hold another demonstration that will be more powerful than a sex strike," said Ameganvi, "Like fasting." Liberian women used a sex strike in 2003 to campaign for peace.

Unlucky-New bride dies after waterfall plunge
RAWDON, QUE. - A "trash the dress" photo session turned into a tragedy Friday afternoon when a new bride drowned in the river of the Dorwin waterfalls north of Montreal. Maria Pantazopoulos, 30, entered the river for the photo shoot around 2 p.m. and her wedding dress absorbed the water and weighed her down. "She wanted to enter the water with her dress for the photos," said photographer Louis Pagakis. "I asked her if she knew how to swim and she said yes." Pagakis said he tried to pull her out of the water but the wedding dress was too heavy. Provincial police spokesman Ronald McInnis said the 30-year-old's body was found around 6 p.m., about 50 to 100 feet away from where she fell.

The woman was at the falls participating in the photo session where brides wear their gowns in areas they wouldn't normally on their wedding day.  Pantazopoulos was a real estate agent from Laval, Que., just north of Montreal. She was married on June 9, McInnis said. A witness told QMI Agency the bride was in her wedding dress, standing on a rock in the water, when she slipped and was carried away by the current.
Nice display-Topless protest hits Toronto

TORONTO - A group of Raelian women marched topless through the Beach area Sunday to support the right for women to go bare-breasted in public. But oddly, that is a right Canadian women have had for years. The 20 Raelians — who believe the earth was created by an extra-terrestrial civilization — danced as they marched along a route which started at Lake Ontario took them along Queen St. E. “We want to allow women to be
topless the way men do. We have the right to feel the sun and not be guilty. Our religion has no problem with nudity. We want women to be comfortable with their body,” said Freedom, the event organizer. The display made Lisa Munroe uncomfortable as the group paraded past her and her three children. She made the kids turn away from those in the parade. “I know it is legal, but I have kids. This isn’t something I want my kids to see because they are a little young,” Munroe said.  Conor Loyd, 11, was given reading material issued by the group about how women shouldn’t be ashamed to be topless.
Good or Bad-College student strippers offered tuition cash, bonuses

TORONTO -- Female college students are receiving offers of tuition money and bonuses for signing up to work as strippers at a Windsor, Ont., club. Management at the Leopard's Lounge and Broil is trying to fill a void left by foreign dancers who have been sent packing from Canada by the federal government. Students who work at the club are eligible for up to $1,700 in tuition for full or part-time classes in area colleges or the University of Windsor, providing they maintain a B-plus average. "The girls can take any class they want to help better themselves," said Robert Katzman, who owns several clubs in Windsor and the U.S. "We have girls studying business, finance, to become nursing assistants and one taking chiropractory." Katzman offers a $500 signing bonus to new dancers providing they meet certain guidelines, loans to cover first and last month's rent for apartments, and will provide money for women to travel to Windsor. The club also offers assistance to dancers when it comes to hair, makeup, costumes and developing a stage show.
The Wyandotte St. W. lounge is no stranger to controversy. Hundreds of fans packed the bar last January for a dwarf-tossing contest that local officials sought to have banned. It was the second time in 10 years the club hosted the event that generated international hype.
What-Man Dials 911 Asking For Sex with Female Cops

AUGUST 24--Meet Joshua Basso. Again. The Florida man was arrested today and charged with misusing the 911 system after admitting to investigators that he made seven separate calls between Wednesday and this morning requesting female deputies for sex. That might sound familiar because in November 2009 Basso was arrested by Tampa police and charged with the same crime. Back then, he claimed to be masturbating while he queried an emergency operator about her breasts and whether she would be willing to have sex with him. (Click here to read that report and listen to one of his 911 calls).
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Basso, 32, began making calls to 911 two days ago and continued dialing “to request female deputies for his sexual gratification” until confronted by deputies this morning at 11:20 AM, when he copped to the making the calls.
Still behind bars on $3500 bond for the seven misdemeanor counts, Basso--pictured in the above mug shot--can take hope from the outcome of his prior case, which ended in a March 2010 dismissal.
