Nice Idea-Dating site matches people who look alike

Years ago, New York writer Christina Bloom left her husband for a man who looked a lot like her. Now she’s launching a dating site that will help other people find their own romantic doppelgangers.
“I was married to my first husband and I fell in love with someone else, and I realized I didn’t have the chemistry with my first husband. I never did,” Bloom told QMI Agency from New York City.
She didn’t notice her similarity to her new partner at first, until friends started telling her they looked like brother and sister. That got Bloom thinking about couples and chemistry, and she started to notice a trend of romantic partners who look alike. “I became sort of fixated on it,” she said, noting that wherever she went, she would observe couples and see the trend show up again and again. “I believe that people are attracted to people with similar facial features from themselves.”
The site’s software looks at things like face shape and bone structure, she said, adding it won’t distinguish between people with different skin colours.
There are studies that back Bloom’s romantic theories. A 2009 study out of the University of St. Andrews showed women prefer men with similar facial features to their own. In a 2006 University of Liverpool study, participants asked to rate the attractiveness of a series of pictures gave the highest props to people who resembled them.Nevertheless, Bloom doesn’t think romance is only skin deep.

Ashley Vickers tackles Streaker (pic: M and Y)

But while footballer Ashley Vickers had the crowd on its feet for stopping streaker Alan Young, the referee wasn’t as impressed – and gave him a red card.

The invader had given stewards the slip as he raced around the pitch in a mankini and wig for 30 seconds, halting the match.

Dorchester Town’s Vickers was sent off by ref David Spain for violent conduct in the team’s Blue Square Bet South 3-1 league loss to Havant and Waterlooville.

Lol-Bottles of urine filled during weekend stay in bank vault lead to conviction for robber

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — Two bank robbers forgot to cover their tracks and left three bottles of urine behind after hiding inside a bank vault in Copenhagen for three days. 27-year-old Swede and his accomplice used the bottles to relieve themselves after sneaking into the vault on a Friday in May and remaining there until the bank opened again the following Monday. While inside, the robbers emptied 140 safe deposit boxes of at least $500,000 in cash and jewelry. But Prosecutor Frederik Larsen said Wednesday they forgot to take the urine when they left, "so we were able to get their DNA samples from the bottles."

The evidence helped prosecutors win a 21-month prison sentence for the 27-year-old on Tuesday. His accomplice is still at large. The loot hasn't been recovered
