SARNIA, ONT. - A suspected drunk driver from Michigan who made a couple of wrong turns before being arrested at the Blue Water Bridge has been sentenced to 19 days in jail. Rebecca Buckley, 50, of Lexington, Mich., pleaded guilty Tuesday in Sarnia court to failing to provide a breath sample so that her blood-alcohol level could be determined. On Sept. 19 at 8 p.m., Buckley drove into the Canada Border Services Agency's secondary inspection area as she entered Canada. No one had told her to go to the secondary area, and she was attempting to turn around so she could return to Michigan.
Buckley came to Canada after making a wrong turn in Michigan and is inadmissible to Canada, defence lawyer Robert McFadden said. An agency officer, who asked why she was in the secondary area, smelled alcohol on her breath. Buckley denied she'd been drinking. She was ordered to provide a breath sample but refused repeatedly and was held in custody. She did not post the required cash bail

TORONTO - Many local women have unwittingly ended up in "creepshots" which are now posted on the Internet. People can view candid shots of attractive women -- doing such things as buying coffee, paying bus fare and other mundane acts in public places -- through an online forum on the website Reddit. The subjects are unaware that their images are being taken by clandestine photographers. Most of the photos are from the United States, but many have been posted by a contributor in Toronto who goes by the name CreeperComforts. And it's all legal.
The Toronto photographer's pictures and online tips on taking "sneaky shots" sparked the cautionary post by anonymous user throwawaybew: "Please, be careful, and to the men of Toronto, warn your friends!" She said she knows CreeperComforts's identity but doesn't want to start a "witch hunt." "He's taking these shots near where I study, and I just wanted to spread awareness to people about ... this guy," she said. CreeperComforts defended his work, saying the streets are fair game. "The short and skinny of it is if you are walking around in public, you will be photographed dozens, if not hundreds, of times a day -- by store security cameras, traffic cameras, even the news with their B-rolls for the nightly broadcast," CreeperComforts wrote to QMI Agency. "So, if that's the case, why can't I also take your picture?" Along with other users, throwawaybew is trying to close down the forum.

A man stole a lawn tractor from a Canadian Tire store in Stratford, Ont., Friday evening. Police said a man in his late 50s or early 60s drove the tractor from the outdoor display area and loaded it onto a waiting vehicle in the store's side parking lot. The suspect is described as 5-feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 200 lbs. He was wearing a ball cap and dark jacket. The lawn tractor is a 2012 green, 19.5-hp Yardworks with a 42-inch cutting deck.

GALLUP, N.M. -- A New Mexico woman is faces charges that she beat her husband, forced him strip naked, and kicked him out of a motel room. The Gallup Independent reports that 50-year-old Juanita Ramer was arrested last week for aggravated battery on a household member after police found her nude and injured husband, 57-year-old Andy Tahe, outside a Ranchito Motel room in Gallup. According to police, Ramer told officers that she had become angry at Tahe early Friday evening when he went out. When he returned, Tahe said his wife hit him on the head with a bottle, made him take his clothes off, and then chased him out of the room.Police found Tahe nude and with a bleeding head wound.

Two 14-year-old German boys have been charged with stealing €3,000 worth of jewellery from one of their mothers, to pay for a visit to a brothel. Police said the boys were still grinning as they were being questioned. Caught in a "delirium of hormones," as a police statement on Monday put it, the two boys got only a tenth of the value of the jewels when they sold them to a canny gold dealer. "With their proceeds of €300, the pair didn't just buy pizza, kebabs, and have a game on the fruit machines," police spokesman Ralf Minet said. They also paid two visits to a brothel in the red light district of Karlsruhe, southwest Germany.Buoyed by the night's experiences, “one could still see a delighted smile on the faces of the thieves during their interrogation," Minet's statement said.
