charges the 19-year-old with cruelty to animals.Sheriff's Deputy J.S. Shackelford says witnesses reported Thompson standing near a neighbor's pygmy goat in a bedroom. He was wearing a bra and female underwear. The goat, a male named Bailey, had at least one stab wound.Cpl. Sean Snuffer said Thompson indicated he had been high and "wasn't in his right mind."Thompson was held on $50,000 bond Tuesday at the South Central Regional Jail. Jail records didn't indicate whether he had an attorney and no listed phone number was available. Neighbor Lisa Powers said she bought the goat on Friday as a gift for her 4-year-old grandson, The Charleston Gazette reported.

"The baby just loved him," she told The Gazette.

Surprise-Online date goes horribly wrong

BARRIE, Ont. - A date arranged online went awry for a Barrie man when the woman turned out to be his current girlfriend.When the 49-year-old woman arrived at a local coffee shop Saturday evening, Barrie police say she threw coffee in his face and slapped him.An off duty OPP officer arrested the woman and called city police.

The woman was held for bail.

Bad-Meter reader allegedly greeted with punches

OTTAWA - A Hydro Quebec meter reader was greeted with several punches in the head Tuesday night in La Peche.According to MRC des Collines Police Sgt. Daniel Pariseau, the meter reader suffered only minor injuries and managed to escape to call the cops.

"We nearly arrived to the same welcome," said Pariseau.The officers managed to subdue the attacking man -- 64 years old and drunk -- by hand."He's gonna spend the rest of the night here with us," said Pariseau.

The man is already known to police for similar outbursts. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

Trapped-Mayor rescues man trapped in women's prison

BERLIN - A mayor in Germany helped rescue a man who became trapped in a women’s prison after mistaking it for a shortcut to a nearby park, police in the northern city of Hildesheim said on Wednesday. Hildesheim Mayor Henning Blum heard the man’s cries for help while passing by the prison near the city centre and notified police who came and freed the 24-year-old.The man told police he was strolling through town and did not immediately notice he had walked into a prison. By the time it dawned on him where he was, the gate to the jail had already closed, locking him inside.Police said they are investigating why the prison gate was open, enabling the man to wander in.

Lucky-Man Runs out of gas, buys lottery ticket — wins

An Abbeville man is the newest lottery winner in the Upstate. Lottery officials said the man was on his way to get a haircut, when he ran out of gas. They said he ended up walking the rest of the way into town and on his way bought a lottery ticket.

The scratch-off ticket ended up being a winner, and the man won $200,000. Lottery officials said the man bought the ticket at Rosenberg’s Spirits, which won $2,000 for selling the winning ticket. The man told lottery officials the Cash Blowout winnings will make a great down payment on a farm.
